We hope you will find all the important information you need to know below including how to get to us, what to bring and other important information.

It is our intention to provide a beautiful, serene and safe environment for you to connect to yourself, relax, unwind and for you to be 100% you.

TRANSPORT 

Getting to Maekok River Village Resort, Thaton:

There will be one pick up and drop off at Chiang Mai International Airport at the following times. The drive is a beautiful 3-hour drive through the mountains and we will make a couple of comfort stops en route.

Friday 26th September

2:00pm pick up from arrivals hall in the international terminal at Chiang Mai International Airport to Mae Kok River Village Resort

Tuesday 30th September

10:00am pick up from Mae Kok River Village Resort to Chiang Mai International Airport

A representative from the Maekok River Village Resort will be there to meet you.

WHAT TO BRING 

The following is a suggested list of things to bring to the retreat: 

  • Reusable water bottle;

  • Loose, comfortable clothes for practice;

  • Waterproof jacket;

  • Trainers;

  • Swim wear;

....and an intention to relax, unwind and bring curiosity to explore what you want more of in your life!

2:00 PM Pick up from Chiang Mai International Airport

5:00 PM Arrive and settle in.

6:30PM Opening ceremony

8:30PM Free time to settle in and rest after travelling.

Saturday - Monday

7.00 AM Tea & fruit  

7.30 AM Morning practice (gentle flow, meditation)

9.00 AM Breakfast 

10.30AM Coaching session

12.30 PM Lunch followed by optional daily activities (hiking, cooking class, boat trip, bike rides)

5:30 PM Afternoon inquiry & practice

7.30 PM Dinner

8:30 PM After dinner unwind (optional activities yoga Nidra or a reflective journaling practice)

Tuesday

FAQs

  • There will be approximately 12 - 15 retreaters.t goes here

  • Unfortunately we can only provide the set times above for pick up and drop off. However, if you wish to arrange separate travel arrangements please let us know and this can be arranged at an additional cost.

  • Yes, coffee and alcohol are allowed. We would just encourage everyone to moderate the alcohol and coffee intake to make sure you make the most of the practices. Traditionally alcohol and coffee are not encouraged with yoga practice as they influence the mind-body connection. If you are interested in finding out more about a Sattvic diet click here. 

  • Delicious and nourishing vegetarian Thai food will be served throughout the retreat for lunch and dinner. For breakfast you will be offered a healthy Western style meal. All meals are vegetarian to align with the Sattvic diet and also the principles of ahimsa. The word “Sattvic” means “pure essence,” and sattvic foods are thought to be pure and balanced, offering feelings of calmness, happiness, and mental clarity. 

    Please let us know if you have any allergies or food requirements.

  • Yes, you will! There will be the daily practice, mealtimes and optional activities – otherwise you will have plenty of time to spend how you wish at the Maekok River Village Resort!

  • The daily practice will combine traditional practices of Hatha and Vinyasa with meditation, mindfulness, breath work and relaxation, allowing you to experience the full physical and mental benefits. The sessions are accessible for all abilities so that everyone can experience the benefits. 

  • Twice daily on Saturday, Sunday, Monday & one practice on Tuesday.

  • No, yoga mats and blocks will be provided. However, feel free to bring any equipment you wish to assist your practice.

  • The daily coaching sessions will be an opportunity to bring inner curiosity and be gently and safely guided by Monica to examine and explore where you are in your life today and what you want more of in your life.  Monica’s coaching techniques and strategies are practical, pragmatic and holistic in nature meaning that they invite you to explore the whole body experience (mind, heart and body) as you connect to yourself and move towards greater calm and clarity.  

    The daily coaching sessions will beautifully compliment the daily movement practices as you are invited to connect body, heart and mind.

  • You can check in from 3pm on Friday. The opening session will be at 6:30pm. The retreat will finish on Tuesday at 12pm. 

  • Alexa and Monica will be looking after you and expertly guiding you over the course of the retreat. Alexa will lead all the yoga practices & Monica will be guiding you through the coaching sessions.

  •  Massages will be available to book at an additional cost.  

  • In the local village there are ATMs, small grocery shops and a pharmacy should you need anything during the retreat.

  • Yes, the resort and rooms are equipped with WIFI (although we encourage you to switch off completely!). 

  • Yes, a small amount is cash is advisable in case you wish to purchase anything from the local village and for additional activities like massages. However, at the Maekok River Resort you will be able to settle all additional expenses by card.

CANCELLATION POLICY 

Booking and payment 

We ask for 50% deposit upon booking and a balance payment 6 weeks prior to the start date of the retreat. 

Cancellation Policy 

When cancelling more than 6 weeks before the start of an event, you will be offered a full refund.
If you cancel your place at the retreat, with less than 6 weeks notice, no refund will be available. You may pass your booking on to a friend at no additional cost. Please notify us via email if a friend will attend in your place. If you don’t have a friend to pass on your booking to, please notify us immediately. If we successfully fill your place you will receive a full refund, minus a 10% administration fee. 

Cancellation by us 

If the retreat is cancelled by the Retreat organizers you will receive a full refund. 

Health & Safety

We take your health and safety very seriously.  Whilst we cannot eliminate all risk involved with travel, we encourage you to consider planning ahead and checking your travel insurance policy before you travel to determine what kind of insurance cover you may be eligible for. 

We will also be asking all retreaters to complete a comprehensive (and confidential) questionnaire before the retreat to ensure the physical, emotional and mental safety of all retreaters.  

There are basic medical facilities nearby and very good hospitals in the nearest city, Chiang Rai.

There are also First Aiders on site.
